Transport NOW - July 2025

The latest edition of the RTBU’s national member magazine, Transport NOW, is out now!

From 20 workers to over 35,000 strong, the RTBU has stood united fighting for better pay and conditions for rail, tram and bus workers. In this edition of Transport NOW, we celebrate major wins across the country - from historic wage increases in WA to transport returning to public hands in SA.

We also take a glimpse of the power of a collective voice, as our members shape federal election outcomes.

You can also read about:

  • Victorian members winning the right to negotiate an Enterprise Agreement (EA) at Loram
  • A breakthrough EA at Brisbane City Council – a story of patience, pressure and member power
  • May Day celebration from across the country
  • Two dedicated union delegates of our union, Newcastle bus driver Kelly Balcomb and Trent “Trigger” Howard, from the Infrastructure Division.
  • Important changes to the National Standards for Health Assessment of rail safety workers.

This edition also goes back to where our union began: 1861 and features an update on important research project being conducted by Deakin University to uncover the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to the rail industry.

There is power in the Union and this edition of Transport NOW gives a glimpse into the power of our union – the RTBU.
