The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) is offering support to union members and staff affected by today's death of a bus driver at Moorooka in Queensland.
RTBU Queensland Assistant State Secretary Tom Brown said the Union was waiting to hear more details about the circumstances around the incident, in which 11 passengers were also injured.
"The safety of our members remains our first priority," he said.
"Currently our thoughts are with the family of our deceased members and providing support to his work colleagues.
"The entire community will be shocked at today's events."
Mr Brown commended emergency service workers and members of the public who rescued passengers and tried to save the driver.
"Police are investigating the matter and the Union will wait until we have more information about the incident before making any further comment."
