VICTORIAN BRANCH POSITIONS
Branch President
Leonie Henderson
I’m running for the position of Victorian Branch President. I am a passionate unionist who has spent my whole life fighting for a fair go for my workmates. I believe in the quiet dignity of safe and ongoing employment.
I worked since I was 16 years of age and came to Rail in 2015 as a Conductor in Bendigo. I was elected a Rail Division RTBU Delegate in 2017 and have worked tirelessly for my colleagues ever since including during the 2019 EA as a member of the bargaining team. My proudest achievement is enhancing our parental leave entitlements to make them some of the best conditions in the country.
I want a back-to-basics Union with the focus solely on the members, representing the majority of members who feel unheard and left behind. I want us all to feel supported and safe in our jobs knowing that if something goes wrong the Union will support us. I want our EAs to be tighter and less open to interpretation. I want officials who know their stuff, are from the rank & file and who reflect our diverse membership.
That’s why I’m running for Victorian Branch President with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists with a Branch team of 50% men/50% woman who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

I’m standing for a strong & united RTBU. Across borders and across divisions, our union is strongest when we work as one.
From a national perspective we have made significant progress in demanding legislative reform, coordinating national campaigns against privatisation, improved communications with members and organised fruitful collective bargaining across major national employers.
We are stronger when we work together and support all members equally. Together our experience will continue to drive our union forward.

Angela Lardner
Statement only submitted for National Vice President (Women) position:
I am running for National Vice President (Affirmative Action – Women). I’m a dedicated unionist passionate about gender equality, supporting and advocating for women.
I’m a single mum of 3 and fifth generation proud railway worker. A train driver at Metro for nearly 10 years, before that a roster clerk and station officer. I am an experienced unionist - CPSU delegate for 4 years, RTBU delegate for 5 years and recently the RTBU Woman’s Convenor. Currently completing a law degree I can even better support and advocate for members.
I have a strong interest in advocating for women in a male dominated industry - pregnancy, maternity leave, domestic violence, sexual harassment and discrimination. I know first-hand the impact this has on our happiness in our jobs and am committed to real change. As a RTBU Delegate I helped get better female facilities, I established a working party of women drivers at Metro & implemented an improved pregnancy policy.
I am passionate about improving women’s experiences on and off the job and believe our National Vice President should play a stronger role in supporting RTBU women with the National Women’s campaign committee (per the rules) established! Developing and mentoring women leaders and publically advocate on issues for women, which the current VP has failed to do. As National Vice President (Affirmative Action – Women), I will work tirelessly for all women across our union to improve our experience and ensure the National Women’s Campaign committee actually meets per the Union Rules!
Branch Junior Vice President
Genevieve Arch
The RTBU is a wonderful Union and I am proud to run for Victorian Branch Junior Vice President.
I have been a tram driver for the last 7 years & an active part of RTBU Woman for most of that time. I am passionate about our union & a vocal advocate for fairness for my colleagues.
I want our union to be strong which means we need to be united. This should be paramount for the Victorian Branch who should act in the best interests of all members equally, no matter the Division. Members know that in Unity we triumph.
I believe the Victorian Branch should strive to ensure all objects of the Union are met and all processes and rules adhered so that we are all very proud to be Union members and confident our needs are listened to and met in the Union and will be fought for in our workplaces.
I want our union to be better for all members, to give Yarra Trams employees another voice in the Victorian Branch and to proudly be part of the first Victorian Branch with more than one woman.
That’s why I’m running for the position of Branch President with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists with a Branch team of 50% men/50% woman who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Branch Secretary
Marc Marotta
I’m running for Branch Secretary to make our union & workplaces better.
I’m a staunch unionist who prides myself on honesty, fighting for what’s right & standing up to bullies, including the bosses. I’ve been a driver and unionist for 45yrs, with 30yrs experience as a delegate, Branch President & Locomotive Divisional Secretary.
I have a strong record as a tough successful union leader; leading the Locomotive Division to win members job security & the best conditions in the industry. We’re proudly known for well-trained, accountable representatives who respond to members within 24hrs & for strength, integrity & always standing up to the bosses.
My record is also fighting for fairness for ALL members. For years, I’ve helped Rail Div members, abandoned by their officials, fight injustice & get their jobs back and loyally supported Trammies get financial autonomy & repayment of their funds.
Our union can be better & do better and I want to make that happen. I want all members to get proper & equal representation and be treated with dignity & respect at work. I want our union strong and united, above politics & self-interest, run in a fair, transparent & democratic manner. I want to use my experience as lead bargaining representative in over 30 EA negotiations to lift pay & conditions for all.
That’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists with a Branch team of 50% men/50% woman from all Divisions running a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Putting Members First!
# I am standing with the Members First Team of rank & file members working together for a strong & united union #
When I first joined our industry, I saw first-hand the importance of our hard-working union. My experiences at work and strong sense of justice have driven me to support, represent, advocate and work with all members to get a fair deal.
I have worked as an Authorised Officer, Union Lawyer, Organiser and am now the current Victorian Branch Secretary. Having worked at so many different levels of our Union and with members from so many different departments I have developed a comprehensive understanding of our industry, enterprise agreements and the industrial relations system.
Working tirelessly to provide legal advice, represent members, develop our Delegates, run successful workplace campaigns and negotiations, and work through countless health & safety issues, together we have secured significant wins across the network.
With so much more to do, I am prepared for the challenges of new technologies and profit driven management. That’s why job security, career pathways and upholding our conditions will remain the top priorities and major focus in the years ahead.
With record investment in our industry, my vision for the future will see our union on the front foot continuing to set the agenda. Working together our campaigns will demand transport workers are the front and centre beneficiaries of the current boom.
United we stand, divided we fall!

Branch Divisional Organiser – Infrastructure/Fleet Manufacture Division
Tanyol Beyit
I am proud to run for Branch Divisional Organiser (Infrastructure/Fleet Divisions).
I’ve work in rail for 32 years, the last 12 as a car builder. I’m a union member from day one & became a delegate 20 years ago as I wanted to improve work conditions and get equitable outcomes in EA negotiations. In the years since I’ve supported & advocated for members on the shop floor & been lead workplace bargaining rep in 5 EA negotiations.
I’ve enjoyed using my passion & experience to get us positive outcomes for members but I feel that I & my fellow delegates could have achieved more if we had an Organiser & union leaders who backed us.
That’s why I’m stepping up & running for Organiser. I want us to have officials that back delegates & members, listens to what they want & takes action. I believe union officials should fight bosses & be focused only on our members – not other unions & politics. We’re in a top industry & workshop members should get the same conditions as other members in the railways. I will work tireless to make members a priority & will fight in upcoming EAs for what they want including job security, clear classifications so bosses can’t add more & more work, improved rosters, fairness & advancement opportunities.
That’s why I’m running for Organiser with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Branch Divisional Organiser – Administrative, Supervisory, Technical and Professional/Rail Operations Divisions
Pearl Singh
I’m proudly running for Branch Divisional Organiser.
I came to Australia from India 24 years ago and worked in the railways for 18 years while raising my 2 gorgeous demanding kids. I started as a Station Host at Connex and now I’m a Station Officer 3 with experience across Metro including City Loop, Flinders Street, Southern Cross and Nothern Group.
As a member I’ve witnessed poor and unfair union representation, reps misusing funds and running biased agendas supporting management to the detriment of members.
I was a victim of this misrepresentation - my Rail Div Organiser told me to accept a dismissal when I had done nothing wrong. I was devastated and turned to Marc Marotta, an experienced, dedicated official. He said no member should be treated unfairly and helped me take Metro to Fair Work Commission where I was successfully reinstated.
Representatives should look after ALL member’s interest and no member should go through what I did. I want ethical, competent representatives who are accountable to members. I want good union governance and member’s funds to be used for members, not officials. I want a united union that stands up to the bosses and fights to protect and improve our wages & working conditions.
That’s what I will work hard and that’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists with a Branch team of 50% men/50% woman who come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Statement provided for Vice President of Rail Operations Division position:
My name is Pablo Haurat & I am running for Vice President of the Rail Operations Division.
I’ve been an Authorised Officer for 11 years and I am running for Divisional Vice President because I want to make the Union better for our members.
I am interested and dedicated to making a change within our Union for the better and am getting involved in the union because I want to improve our work conditions including in EA negotiations.
So far I have seen the poor representation and corrupt behaviour in the current representatives at the Rail Ops Division. This needs to CHANGE! We need a new accountable and transparent leadership team who support, educate and mentor their delegates and stand up against the bosses. Members deserve to have their matters and issues answered and dealt with appropriately; not just when it’s election time, but all the time.
With EA negotiations coming up I do not want another mess!! I want to stand up for my rights and fellow colleagues and together with the more experienced and dedicated Union officials in TRUEChange, who I support, we can get back our job security, get better rosters, secure career progression and ensure a more accountable union office.

I am passionate about improving members conditions and making our workplaces fairer. I have worked hard on getting COVID payments for the members with the latest issue being members failing RATs but passing PCRs. I have also worked on the proposed move and subsequent floor plan change at 628 Bourke Street and expansion at the DRS.
I want to continue to use my knowledge and experience to make things better for members. I want our union to be filled with union officers like me – rank & filers who care about members, not politics. Statement provided for President of the Administrative, Supervisory, Technical and Professional Division position:
I am honoured to be running for President of the Administrative, Supervisory, Technical and Professional Division.
I’m an approachable hard-working person that will fight for member’s and what’s rights.
I have been a Station Officer at Metro for 5 years and a HSR for 1 ½ years for the Mernda Group with a background in hospitality and running my own business. I’m a father of 6 young boys, but with my amazing supportive wife I could step up as a HSR and represent my colleagues for a better working environment. I enjoy this role and being able to successfully challenge safety issues and push for improvements in the workplace.
I am running for your Divisional President as I want the union to be better. As a member over the last 5 years at Metro I’ve seen a lot of poor representation, including failure to assist members in overtime disputes, career progression, and bullying. I’ve seen nepotism by union officials, lack of response to queries and just a failure to respect our members. This must change.
I want members to have responsive, accountable representatives who will be there when they need them. I want officials who fight management, not do their bidding. I want us strong and united in the next EAs for job security, improved wages and conditions.

I have a passion for safety and member rights and a strong moral code. I’ve been at Metro for 5 years and I’m currently a Station Officer 2 at Newport. Before that I came from an IT background with an Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering. My wife and I have two young boys and I enjoy cooking for our family making it a team environment, which I want to see more of at work.
Over the years I have seen a lot of people being bullied and unfairly treated, staff members in desperate need of stronger and unbiased representation from their Union, so I decided to support them, working with them to find closure.
I’m standing for this position so I can bring the change that I desperately want to see at the RTBU. I want to members to have safe and fair working conditions free of bullying and intimidation.
That’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from ALL DIVISIONS to run a United team for a BETTER UNION.

Sajeev Thottapura
My name is Sajeev Thottapura and I’m honored to run as your Vice President.
I want them to know the union is there for them when they need them. I want our workplaces to be fairer including gender equality. I want our union strong and united fighting for job security, better rosters, clear classifications and improved wages and conditions.
That’s why I’m running as your Divisional Vice President with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

My name is Huseyin Basogu and I am proud to run for the position of Secretary of the Administrative, Supervisory, Technical and Professional Division.
I’ve been working in the railways in station operations since 2000 & during that time I’ve been a passionate unionist committed to fighting for fairness for my work mates.
I've witnessed many challenges with multiple operators who've come in and thrown their weight around and that is why I'm for a strong union that fights for members rights at all times. We have to stick together to be stronger standing up for each other.
I’m stepping up & running as your Divisional Secretary as I want change for the better. I want leaders who fight management, not cave to them & do what they want. I want all members to feel heard & know they will have proper representation when they need it. I want a union where all Divisions work together in EA negotiations against the bosses so we all get job security, improved wages & conditions. I want members to trust that their officials are focused on them only – not politics & what’s in it for them. I want our union to be run well & fairly so we can be proud of it.

I’m running for Divisional President as I want to make our Division better so we can do better for our members. Me & my fellow delegates have worked for years to improve our workmates lot without proper support & backing from above & that needs to change. I want a new leadership that backs its delegates and stands strong & united against the bosses. I want our leaders to hear member issues from the floor and take action. I want our Division focused only on our members – not other unions or political agendas.
I want to use my passion & experience as your President to back delegates & members in the upcoming EAs negotiations to lift our conditions to the same as members in other parts of the railways & give us job security, clearer job descriptions, better rosters & fairer processes whether its discipline, training or job progression.

Steve Ermstrang
I am running for Vice President of the Fleet Manufacture, Overhaul, Maintenance & Service Division. I am passionate about making our workplaces fairer & free of management bullying.
I have been a mechanical fitter for 6 years & I see a need for real change. Before joining the railways, I ran my own business for around 25 years so I know how people should be treated & that’s not what’s happening for our members.
I’m running for your Vice President for more fairness & equality on the shop floor. As a member I feel our officials could do much better – I’ve only seen current officials a couple of times over 6 years & I feel their priority isn’t us - it’s other unions & politics.
That’s why I’m stepping up. I want us all to feel the union has our back & will put us first. I want a leadership committed to fairness including equitable overtime, equal access to job opportunities & stopping management favouritism. I want the next EA negotiations to be different. I don’t want other unions deciding for us - the majority. I want our bargaining team to fight for what we want including fairness, job security, clear classifications & fixing up our rosters so they’re more equal and we have a better work life balance.
That’s why I’m running for your Vice President with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Tanyol Beyit
I am proud to run for Secretary of the Fleet Manufacture, Overhaul, Maintenance & Service Division.
I’ve enjoyed using my passion & experience to get us positive outcomes but I feel that I & my fellow delegates could have achieved more if we had leaders who backed us.
That’s why I’m stepping up & running for Divisional Secretary. I want us to have a leadership that backs delegates & members, listens to what they want & takes action. I believe leaders should fight bosses & be focused only on our members – not other unions & politics. We’re in a top industry & workshop members should get the same conditions as other members in the railways. I will work tireless to make members a priority & will fight in upcoming EAs for what they want including job security, clear classifications so bosses can’t add more & more work, improved rosters, fairness & advancement opportunities.

Leonie Henderson
Statement provided for Branch President position:

My name is David Loch and I am proud to run for the position of V/Line Network and Access (Operations) Sub Division Representative on Divisional Committee.
I’ve worked at V/Line since 2008, first as a Conductor and then moving into Centrol. I have been a Union Representative since mid-2021 and a HSR since the start of 2022.
I want all members to have their voices heard & know the union is there when they need it. I want a strong union fighting for better wages & conditions in the next EA negotiations & for our union to be strong it must be united.

Pablo Haurat
That’s why I’m running to be your Vice President with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.
Thomas Munaretti
Statement provided for Secretary of Rail Operations Division position:
I am running for the position of Secretary of the Rail Operations Division.
I have been an Authorised Officer for 12 years and for 10 of those a dedicated RTBU delegate. I’m a staunch unionist and thoroughly enjoy the responsibilities and challenges of supporting and advocating for the best interests of members.
I pride myself on my ‘can do’ attitude, leadership capabilities, organisational & administrative skills and genuine passion for working for change and bettering the RTBU for all workers.
I want a union that gives members a real voice and proper representation so when they need it, they know the union has their back. I want a union that tells members what’s going on & is accountable. I want it run properly in accordance with the rules so we can be proud of it. I want our union to be strong against the bosses & that means leaders that unite us, not divide us. It also means leaders who don’t cave to the bosses & do their bidding.
We have a fight on our hands with the next EAs & we need a strong leadership who will fight to not only protect, but improve, our wages & conditions including getting back our job security, improved consistent rosters, set sign on locations, more flexibility & advancement opportunities.
That’s why I’m running for Rail Operations Division Secretary with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Statement provided for Divisional Organiser position:

Statement provided for Vice President of the Fleet Manufacture, Overhaul, Maintenance & Service Division position:

Statement provided for Branch Organiser positions:

Branch Divisional President - Tram and Bus Division
Rupert Braganza
I am proud to run for Tram & Bus Division President.
I’ve been a passionate & active unionist for 20 years in Australia & before that in India. I’ve worked for Yarra Trams for 18 years as an Authorised Officer & during this time I endured and witnessed workplace injustice. I fought hard for my rights & assisted colleagues who came to me for help. I soon realised I could do more for members as a union official & was honored to be voted in as your Vice President.
In the years since I used my passion & knowledge to advocate for worker’s rights including as part of the bargaining team that successfully negotiated a strong EA with better conditions, greater benefits, job security & increased pay.
My commitment to fairness didn’t end with the bosses. I also fought for a fairer union for members including getting you control of your funds & repayment of tens of thousands of dollars of your money spent on things that had nothing to do with you. Also, I fought so you, for the first-time, could decide who fills casual vacancies and represents you.
As your President I will continue to be honest, empathetic and a vocal advocate for fairness. I will continue to strive for a better stronger union & fight management for what’s right.
That’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Anthony Tobschall
Candidate for Divisional President, RTBU Tram & Bus Division as part of the Trammies United team
In my time working across many industries in different roles I have seen and learned the importance of unions, how a well-run and organised union can achieve wondrous results for its members and look after them. I have seen how poorly organised and divided unions can lose members their jobs and erode conditions.
I have been the delegate for Preston Workshops for three years during which I have represented members interests, not only in our struggles with management, but also with respect in the way in which our division has been run during this last term.
All members should feel that the union has their back, no matter whether you are a driver, an AO, are in operations, work in maintenance, infrastructure or in the store. In the eyes of the division, we are all members with the same right to representation.
A union is strongest when it is alive through active participation of members. With your help, we can build a more democratic, consultative, and inclusive RTBU, better prepared to protect and defend member’s right and conditions.
Branch Divisional Vice President - Tram and Bus Division
John Antonopolos
My name is John Antonopoulos and I’m proud to run for your Divisional Vice President.
I’ve been a union member since I started driving at Camberwell Depot back in 2009 and a union delegate at Preston Depot for 4 years. I’m known for wearing my heart on my sleeve and doing everything in my power to achieve the best outcome for members.
I’m running for your Divisional President as I want to continue to use my passion for workers’ rights and to fight for fairness for all Division members.
Since KDR took over there has been a gradual erosion of our condition. Despite the background noise of disgruntled ex-officials that took their positions for granted, it’s only since the current executive team, and the hard work they did during the last EA, that our conditions & pay improved. It’s also only since then that we as delegates got proper training and support to achieve better outcomes for members.
I want this positive trend to continue which is why I’m running with them. I want job security, better rosters, fairer workplaces and improved wages & conditions. I want our Division run by an experienced team that will fight the bosses and for a better union. I also want our union strong and united, forever as one - every division, from top to bottom.
That’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Natalie de la Salle
Candidate for Divisional Vice President, Tram and Bus Division as part of the Trammies United team.
If elected as Vice President of the Tram & Bus Division, I will make it my mission that we become more inclusive and transparent with members by putting members issues front and centre each day.
I believe members deserve more reliable and better processes for dealing with individual and collective issues through our Divisional Meetings to ensure all members voices are heard and respected, and changes made to record these discussions accurately for the benefit of the membership. Decisions must not be made top-down without consultation, we must work as a team and bring people with us on the journey.
Our union is a dynamic and living entity, powered by the members and, as such we all have a role to play in making our union stronger and seeing it work for us.

I’m delighted to run for re-election as your Divisional Secretary.
I’ve worked for Yarra Trams for 18 years, first as a Customer Service Employee, and then a Tram Driver and during that time I’ve been a passionate unionist and vocal advocate.
After seeing injustice in workplaces, deterioration of conditions and indifference of the previous officials I stepped up, first as Preston Depot delegate for 2 years and then as Divisional Secretary for the last 4.
As your Divisional Secretary I fought Yarra Trams tooth and nail for fairer workplaces & member rights. I’m proud to say I have no mates in management. The bosses don’t like me because I stand up to them & get results. This includes successfully negotiating a new EA with improved job security, increased pay & better conditions as well as stopping unsafe work practices and unjust disciplinary processes.
I also fought for a better, fairer & more democratic union. I won you control of your funds from the Branch & repayment of your money spent by the Branch on things that had nothing to do with you. I also ensured that you, not officials, decide who fills casual vacancies & represents you.
I promise to keep tirelessly defending you, holding business & governments to account and fighting for a stronger better union for the benefit of members.
That’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.
Brian Penza
My name is Brian Penza , I have worked at Yarra Trams for 16 years, union delegate for 10 years.
I have seen ruthless attacks from KDR during this time , i understand managements cooperate strategies driven by cooperate greed , manipulative wording, indirect threats, and seemingly li harmless moves they make to implement there master plan , They take away our conditions and improve there profits off our backs.
Importantly I have developed skills to watch for the warning signs , implement our own strategies and moves to stop these attacks and take back the conditions we have lost, especially over the past 4 years.
I have represented members at the fairwork commission, federal court, DOT investigations, Workcover, triggered medical outcomes, transition to retirement, OH&S, being questioned and cross-questioned by Y.T lawyers, HR, company directors, commissioners and judges.
I have already achieved great things for us members and know how to get the job done.
Vote Trammies United for a strong working future.
Branch Divisional Assistant Secretary - Tram and Bus Division
Anthony Brook
I have been a TRAM Driver for nearly 10yrs, and have always been a strong and proud member of the RTBU.
Within my employment I have previously held the office of Deputy HSR for approximately 5yrs whilst proactively bringing health and safety issues to the attention of management. Of particular concern at present is the Graduated Rostering process and the company’s management of workplace fatigue.
My knowledge of our current EBA has been relied upon many times by RTBU members including some delegates. I have extensive knowledge and application of the disciplinary processes, and have also assisted colleagues with workplace issues when delegates were not a viable option for the member.
I am dedicated to the RTBU membership and am further committed to unifying the members to achieve positive outcomes.
Luis Fanti
Candidate for Divisional Assistant Secretary RTBU Tram & Bus Division as part of the Trammies United team.
My experience makes me ready to fight for you. I have addressed the worsening safety situation for our people head on and secured commitments for funding to be allocated in the state budget for improved facilities and accessible toilets, lighting, CCTV and increased police presence and response around the network.
The road ahead - We need a united team in the Tram & Bus Division to work productively with the Victorian Branch and restore mutual respect, commitment, and collaboration across our Union.
This election members must vote to exercise their power and restore the once proud legacy of the RTBU and the Tram & Bus Division. United we stand, divided we fall.

I am honoured to run for your Divisional Assistant Secretary.
I’m a passionate unionist who prides myself on being an honest, approachable & hard-working advocate for members. I’ve been in public transport for 22 years working at Yarra Trams as a Tram Attendant, Customer Service Employee and now Customer Service Supervisor.
I have 10 years union experience including as a Delegate for Tram Attendants, the Tram Hub and since 2019 your Divisional President. I stepped up to the current executive as I didn’t believe our union was heading in the right direction. I felt our conditions had gone downhill for years & members were left in the cold while ex-officials ran their own agendas.
I wanted change for the better & I’m proud to say that’s what we did. We successfully negotiated a strong EA with increased pay, job security & better conditions. We made workplaces safer & fairer. We stood up to the bosses instead of buddying up to them. We also fought to make our Division better. We stopped the Branch controlling your money and using it for things that had nothing to do with you and made our Division more autonomous, transparent & democratic.
I want to continue to make positive change for members –make our union stronger & better, our workplaces fairer and improve our pay & conditions.
That’s why I’m running with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

Sub Divisional Representative on Branch Divisional Committee – Kew
Alf Albini
I have been working at Kew Depot for nearly 11 years as a driver and also a trainer. In the years, I have seen a lot happen to our industry. Not all of it good.
Think about the service that we provide, daily without fail, to the people of Melbourne. From the earliest hour of the morning to late at night we are there. During public holidays, sporting events, military remembrances, Christmas and Easter, we are there. We should be proud of the part we play in the fabric of our city.
We have a right to protect our conditions and seek a just remuneration for the work that we do. We should stand up for our comrades when they are in need.
I want us to be stronger together and realise that WE ARE THE UNION. I want to do more for Kew Depot I believe that together we can make our lives better.

Hello Kew,
I am nominating myself for the position of union delegate for the Kew tram depot for a quite simple reason: I want the best conditions for the workers, as requested by the workers
No-one knows the needs of the workers more than the workers themselves, and I look forward to working with you all to present the best outcomes for the issues we face
I have union experience at previous workplaces, and I’m very excited to serve and fight for our common good
Together we are unbreakable, and we must maintain our unity

I'm John Luker and I'm a tram driver at the Malvern Depot. I have been an RTBU member since 2013 when I started working for Yarra Trams. I have worked in production roles as an admin assistant and relief team manager. In all these roles I have always put the drivers first. As members of the union, we need to strive together to be united and help one another. In our daily work as drivers, we all face similar victories and similar challenges. My focus is on keeping us happy, safe and in line with the current EBA. We should all look forward to coming to work daily and know that we have someone who has our back. I'm that person who WILL HAVE your back and more.
I am running for the RTBU Delegate-Malvern position and ask for your support in making a conscious vote for the upcoming elections on 9 & 10 November 2022.

I have been a proud RTBU Member of Preston Depot since 2017, and an active member of the RTBU Women’s Committee since 2018, including as Women’s Advocate for Preston, and now as Women’s Convenor representing the women and folk of our division. I am passionate about your safety, and have been involved in the committee working towards improving safety for drivers and others out on the network. Being elected as your Delegate will give me the opportunity to further represent and advocate for the rights of all RTBU Members at our depot with passion.
As Delegate I intend to work a variety of shifts so that I can have an appreciation for the conditions and challenges which affect different times of day on our network.
I believe in transparency and the importance of clear communication. I will always work hard to be available to Members when needed, and to represent the best interests of all Members in EBA discussions.

Branch Divisional President - Locomotive Division
Wayne Hicks
I’m running for re-election for Victorian Locomotive Division President.
I’m a staunch unionist from a proud family of railway workers - I’ve been a driver for 40 years, my brother is a driver, my son was a conductor & my cousin a shunter. I have 30 years’ union experience including as a Locomotive Division delegate, it’s Vice President & for the last 8 years I’ve been honored to be its President. With EA’s coming up I’m the right person for the job with experience on bargaining teams for 5 EAs.
I got involved in the union & kept involved to improve our terms & wages & defend hard-won conditions our forefathers fought for like the 8-hour day. Management is always trying to save costs by cutting wages & eroding conditions. The only thing in their way is the union. That’s why we need a strong united union with an experienced leadership focused on serving members, not self-interest or politics.
For me it’s about members & my record stands for me. I work tirelessly to support members & get them the best possible outcomes. I’m about getting the job done - available afterhours & on weekends. I’m about transparency, telling it like it is & fighting for what’s right, whether it’s against the bosses or within the union.
That’s why I’m running for Victorian Locomotive Division President with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from all Divisions to run a UNITED team for a BETTER UNION.

I’m honored to run as your Divisional Secretary.
I’ve been a driver for 22 years working at V/Line and Metro which gives me a strong understanding of our railways - both Metro & Regional.
I’ve been an active unionist from day one as my father, a retired driver, always said a united union can make a real difference. I’m passionate about standing up for drivers’ conditions & improving our workplaces and pride myself on being an honest, unwavering & empathetic representative.
I have years of union experience as an HSR, Metropolitan Sub-division Committee member and Metropolitan Secretary. On a daily basis, I represent members in meetings about disciplinary matters, fatalities, near misses and raise disputes about terms & conditions. I’ve also been on our bargaining team for the last 3 Metro EA negotiations attending hundreds of bargaining meetings & the Fair Work Commission to fight for members.
I will always stand for what’s right against the bosses like in the last EA when I took Metro to Court. I will always be your voice in the union as I do now vocally at National Office & Branch meetings. Most importantly, I will always strive to make our union & workplaces better for you.
Being able to make real change and positive difference to members is what drives me.
That’s why I’m running as your Divisional Secretary with TRUE CHANGE, a team of experienced unionists who have come together from ALL DIVISIONS to run a United team for a BETTER UNION.

I am standing for re-election as your Divisional Assistant Secretary.
Next year our EAs will expire & the Rail Operators will once again attack wages & conditions to cut costs. What’s stopping them – Our Union. That’s why members should not settle for anything less than a leadership with experience, integrity & a proven track record.
Knowledge & Experience
Coming from the Driving Grade I am a vocal advocate for Drivers & what’s right. With approximately 25 years industry experience & 20 years union experience including 8 years as your Divisional Assistant Secretary.
I have extensive experience resolving a broad range of complex industrial & safety matters. Including as a lead negotiator in 15 EAs, attending hundreds of bargaining meetings, the Fair Work Commission & Court.
Currently I am finishing a law degree & will graduate with First Class Honours. The driving force behind these studies was to enhance my ability to fight for members & deal with problems that threatens their security & livelihoods.
A proven ability to get the best possible outcome for members including getting members jobs back, ending unjust disciplinary processes, stopping unsafe trains running & taking Court action to successfully get underpayments repaid.
I will always fight tirelessly against injustice, to defend your conditions, increase wages & improve standards across the industry.
